Us Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff Lands in Israel on Official Visit

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford landed in Israel on Monday as a guest of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot.

During the visit, Dunford is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, and additional IDF commanders to discuss cooperation between the two allied armies and mutual security challenges.

Iran Tested High-Speed Torpedo in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran tested a high-speed torpedo on Sunday that is capable of reaching speeds of 200 knots per hour, according to a US official. The test was conducted in the Strait of Hormuz, the vital waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.

The Hoot torpedo has been tested over the past decade, with the most recent test taking place in February 2015. It is believed it is able to reach a speed four times faster than the top speed of traditional torpedoes.

DARPA's High-Assurance Cyber Military Systems (HACMS) program is creating technology for the construction of safe and secure cyber-physical systems. The program has adopted a clean-slate, formal methods-based approach to enable semi-automated code synthesis from executable specifications. HACMS has already transitioned some of its technology to both the defense and commercial communities.

Russia's Sukhoi T-50 Fighter to Incorporate Kh-35UE Tactical Cruise Missiles

On Wednesday, Russia's Izvestia newspaper reported that the Kh-35UE tactical cruise missile, an upgrade of the Kh-35 jet-launched subsonic anti-ship missile, has been incorporated into the Sukhoi T-50's array of potential armaments. 

USAF Space Plane Lands after Secret, Two-Year Mission

The X-37B space plane landed at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The X-37B had been in orbit on a mission designated Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) 4 since a launch on an Atlas 5 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, on May 20, 2015. The US Air Force disclosed prior to the launch that the OTV-4 mission would carry a Hall effect electric thruster developed by Aerojet Rocketdyne and a materials science experiment provided by NASA, but did not disclose other plans for the mission.

Elbit Systems to Provide the IMOD with Satellite-on-the-Move Systems

Elbit Systems announced today that it was awarded a contract to provide the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) with dozens of satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) systems. The contract is in an amount that is not material to Elbit Systems and will be performed over a two-year period.
