Lockheed Martin Awarded $11 Million to Procure Components for Israeli F-35 Production

Lockheed Martin is being awarded a $10,800,000 modification to a previously awarded advanced acquisition contract for additional hardware modules and racks in support of the F-35 low-rate initial production Lot 11 aircraft for the government of Israel under the Foreign Military Sales program.

Saudi, Jordan Conclude Joint Exercise

The Saudi and Jordanian armed forces have conducted a joint maritime military exercise named "Abdallah 5", from April 18 to May 2, 2017. Units from Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) arrived at the Saudi King Abdulaziz Naval Base (KANB), while a group of Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) arrived at the Marka military airport in Amman, to carry out the "Abdullah 5" joint military drill.

Before departing on his way to Israel, Gen. (ret.) Gary North paid a visit to the F-35 production line at Lockheed Martin's massive plant in Fort Worth, Texas. He inspected the seven stealth fighters whose assembling positions proudly display the Israeli flag. These seven aircraft will emerge as Adir fighters in the course of this year, and then fly from Texas to the Nevatim airbase in Israel, to join the IAF's Golden Eagle Squadron to which two such fighters have already been delivered.

Report: Libya Has Become a Hub for Online Arms Trading

Since 2011, Libya has become a hot spot of illicit weapons sales, many of which occur through messaging applications and social media networks, according to a report released Tuesday. The report, which tracks more than 1,300 attempted online sales from 2014 to 2015, was published by the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey, and uses data collected and analyzed by the group Armament Research Services.

Connected Police Helicopters

Police helicopter pilots in San Diego are getting a boost from new technology that allows them to connect with ground support using the internet instead of radios.

The new technology can help officers locate and track the helicopters while airborne using an onboard global positioning system, or GPS. It also logs and provides post-flight mission reporting, which includes helicopter flight paths to use in response to noise complaints from residents.

Trump Gets Additional $15 Billion to US Defense Budget

US President Donald Trump scored a partial win, getting a commitment for up to $15 billion in additional funding for a military buildup. According to Reuters, that was about half of what he originally asked for.

No money was included for Trump's proposed US-Mexico border wall. Democratic opposition to it was solid and support from Trump's fellow Republicans was soft. Trump will likely seek wall funding in a budget proposal coming in late May.
