Amid Gulf Crisis: Qatar, US Sign $12B Deal for F-15 Fighter Jets

Qatar's Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday the country signed a deal to buy F-15 fighter jets from the United States for $12 billion. Bloomberg News reported the deal was for 36 jets.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis and representatives from Qatar were set to meet Wednesday to seal the agreement, a source familiar with the deal told Reuters. 

The sale will increase security cooperation and interoperability between the U.S. and Qatar, the Pentagon said in a statement.

Aeronautics to Showcase First VTOL UAV at the Paris Air Show

UAS manufacturer Aeronautics will present its newest UAVs at this year’s Paris Air Show, including the Orbiter 4 and Pegasus 120.

The Pegasus 120 is the company’s first multi-rotor platform. The VTOL solution is designed especially for defense and security missions.

Pegasus 120 will be able to carry payloads up to 75kg and is "ideal for special missions and special forces," according to the company.

IAF Grounds Apache Helicopters after Rotor Blade Found Cracked

The Israeli Air Force grounded its fleet of Apache attack helicopters on Tuesday after a crack was found in the posterior rotor blade of one of the aircraft during a routine check-up earlier in the day, a senior IDF officer said.

IAF Commandant, Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel called for an investigation into the cause of the damage to the blade to the back-rotor and ordered all the air force’s helicopters to remain on the ground until that examination is complete, the official said.
