NATO Working to Form 'Cyber Doctrine'

NATO is working on a "special doctrine" for cyber operations and taking steps to help member states bolster their cyber defenses, The Hill reported Monday. 

Merle Maigre, Director of the NATO-affiliated cyber center, outlined the alliance’s multi-pronged efforts on cybersecurity during an appearance at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Thailand Reveals New Autonomous Truck Mounted with Elbit Mortar System

 The Thai Ministry of Defense has unveiled a new 120mm wheeled self-propelled mortar system called Autonomous Truck Mounted Mortar (ATMM), developed in collaboration with Elbit Systems to provide fire support for infantry units.

The ATMM is based on a 4x4 military truck chassis manufactured by TATA which is fitted with a new cargo platform with a thickness of 7mm able to carry Elbit's SPEAR 120mm mortar system.

China Unveils New Submarine Family for Export: Soon in the Mediterranean?

During Defense & Security 2017 currently taking place in Bangkok, the China Shipbuilding and Offshore International Company (CSOC) revealed a new family of submarines displacing 1,100t, 600t and 200t. A scale model of the 2,550t S26T currently being built for the Royal Thai Navy for $385 million was also displayed.

Russia, US Maintain Military Hotline in Syria

The Russian Aerospace Forces and the US-led international coalition have established communication channels over Syria, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Of course, given that we are working with the United States in a sufficiently close contact on the ground [in Syria], where channels of communication have been established between the representatives of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the US-led coalition, we are discussing these issues," Lavrov said at a press conference.
