True & False Regarding the Tunnels

The IDF operation in which the Hamas tunnel in Kerem-Shalom was demolished earlier this week made the headlines, but the on-going public discourse regarding the tunnel issue (since Operation Protective Edge in 2014) still contains some question marks and even some disinformation.

Some of the statements made this past week are only partly true. So what is true and what is false with regard to the tunnels?

1. "This week, the IDF destroyed a tunnel the likes of which has never been encountered before."

"The IoT Comes to the Old Industry & Economy as well"

IWI US Launches TAVOR TS12 Bullpup Shotgun

IWI US, a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), revealed their first bullpup shotgun: the TAVOR TS12. This 12 GA gas regulated, smoothbore semi-auto shotgun feeds from one of three magazine tubes, each capable of holding four three-inch shotgun shells or five two-inch shotgun shells, for a total potential magazine capacity of 15 +1 rounds. The TS12 can be fed and unloaded from either side and configured for either right or left side ejection or operation.

India Test-Fires Nuclear-Capable Agni-V ICBM

India test-fired its Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in its final operational configuration, the Indian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

The missile was launched from the Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. According to the Times of India, it is not clear at this point whether the first "user-trial" of the nuclear-capable missile had met all the parameters laid down for the test.

Elbit Systems to Supply EW, SIGINT Systems to a European Country

Elbit Systems announced today that it was awarded an approximately $85 million contract from a European country to supply a range of advanced ground-based Electronic Warfare (EW) and Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) systems. The contract will be performed over a four-year period.

Turkey to Develop Homegrown Air Defense System

Turkish companies Aselsan, Roketsan and Tübitak Sage have signed an agreement with SSM, the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, for a national long-range air defense system project.

Aselsan, Turkey's largest defense electronics company, announced on Tuesday that its share under the agreement was $227 million and $342 million and that the deliveries will be completed in 2021.

How Israel Should Handle a Third Intifada. Opinion

The first intifada started in 1987 and lasted until 1993, and the second occurred from 2000 to 2005. Following the recent unrest in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Israel should try to prevent the third intifada by taking steps to reduce the Palestinian motivation to confront the Jewish State. However, this might not be enough, and a third intifada might erupt. In such a case, Israel will strive to end this confrontation as soon as possible by implementing lessons from previous clashes.
