Bisalloy to Supply Rafael with Armor for AFVs

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Australia’s Bisalloy Steels have signed a $900,000 contract for the supply of BISALLOY Armor steel for use in Rafael’s add-on armor systems for Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs). 

Peru's New Patrol Boats will be Fitted with Rafael Weapon Stations

The Peruvian Navy has ordered two PGCP-50 ships from SIMA Peru shipyards for $54 million. STX Offshore & Shipbuilding will also participate in the construction of the ships.

The ships will be fitted with Rafael's Typhoon and Mini-Typhoon weapon stations.

BIRD Aerosystems Wins Follow-on Maintenance and Support Contract for Mexico's ASIO SMA Fleet

BIRD Aerosystems, a developer of Airborne Surveillance, Intelligence and Observation (ASIO) systems and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), has been awarded a 3-year follow-on contract to provide a variety of maintenance and support services to the Mexican Government ASIO Special Mission Aircraft (SMA) fleet, which includes Cessna Citation aircraft modified to ground surveillance missions, special-mission Bell 407 helicopters, intervention vehicles, and headquarters.

DARPA Interested in Phased-Array Sonar for UUVs

US military researchers are working with two technology companies to develop underwater phased-array sonar that could operate covertly on unmanned submersibles or surface vessels as small, lightweight, and affordable ocean-surveillance systems.

Turkey Mulls Developing New Air Defense System Similar to Iron Dome

The Turkish Defense industry would like to develop a local-made air defense system similar to the Rafael Iron Dome. Local media reported that the new system could be named Golden Cage.

The idea behind this project is to protect the Turkish border with Syria against the fire of rockets, artillery shells, missiles from across the border by Kurdish and other militias.

The Turkish project was presented to the Undersecretary for Defense Industries (SSM) several days ago during a meeting to review the projects of the Turkish Defense Industry.

North Korea Displays Iskander-like Missile

According to Jane's, each TEL is based on a four-axle vehicle that carries two missiles similar in appearance to the 9M723 and 9M723-1 missiles used by the Iskander-M system.

Government Websites in UK, US Have Been Secretly Mining Cryptocurrencies

Who said that government ministries are not a source of income? Government websites in the UK and US, including those belonging to the data regulator and the Student Loans Company, have been secretly commandeered by hackers to mine bitcoin.

The website of the Information Commissioner's Office was among several to be taken offline after a security researcher discovered that malware was being used to illegally mine cryptocurrencies.

The UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said it was investigating the incident.

Croatia's Upgraded M-84 MBT Could Include Rafael's Samson RCWS

The Croatian Armed Forces are planning to upgrade their M-84 main battle tanks (MBTs), according to the country's procurement plan for 2018. According to the Military Balance 2017 analytical report issued by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Croatian Armed Forces operated 75 M-84 MBTs as of early 2017.
