Meteor Aerospace to Develop New MALE UAV

Israel’s Meteor Aerospace has announced the start of full-scale development on a new, medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Known as the Impact 1300, this UAV will offer a take-off weight of 1,300 kg (2,860 lb), at an operating ceiling of 30,000 ft, and an operational endurance of 30 hours. The UAV will have two spacious, easily accessible payload bays, the forward one for electro-optical/infrared payloads and the rear for heavier equipment.

The company has scheduled the new UAV’s flight-testing for 2019.

Lebanese Army, Hezbollah Launch Offensives against ISIS on Syrian Border

The US-backed Lebanese Army launched a long-awaited offensive on Saturday against Islamic State militants holed up in a remote stretch of northeastern Lebanon, the Sydney Morning Herald reported, while a separate assault by the Hezbollah militia and the Syrian army got underway right across the border in Syria.

The Former Reporter who's to become the Head of Israel's National Security Council

It happened 35 years ago. During the First Lebanon War, Prime Minister Menachem Begin wanted to convey a message of encouragement to seven families in the town of Dimona, whose sons had fallen in the war. Begin employed the services of a pleasant young man who in those days served as a reporter for a local newspaper in the southern town, and the latter published the Prime Minister's message in his newspaper. The reporter's name was Meir Ben-Shabbat.

The Covert War on Terrorism Funding

One of the most complex aspects of counterterrorism is monitoring, tracking and preventing the funding of terrorist organizations. Terrorism funding infrastructures often extend to five continents and dozens of countries and involve criminal organizations, straw companies, wayward banks and secret couriers. The Challenge: Mission Intelligence for UGVs

The Future Technologies & Robotic Infrastructures Section is a part of the Technological Division of the IDF Ground Arm HQ. It is responsible for the development of new robotic systems for the IDF Ground Arm. The Section operates under the Maneuvering Systems Department within the Robotics & Combat Engineering Branch. The Branch consists of four sections: two deal with robotics, one with heavy engineering/earthmoving platforms and the fourth section is in charge of a unique project.

RADA to Supply Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radars to the US Military

RADA Electronic Industries, a company specializing in the development, production, and sale of tactical land radars for force and border protection, announced today it had received an order for dozens of Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radars (MHR) from the US Military. Totaling over $8 million, this order will be delivered during 2017.

The radars will be used by a key US military force, providing it with air surveillance and counter-UAS capabilities. The radars are expected to be fielded for operational use soon after delivery.

IAI in Q2 2017: Order Backlog at $11.1B

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) issued its consolidated financial statements for the quarter ended June 30, 2017. In Q2 2017, the company reported a record growth in order backlog to USD 11.1 billion. Another record was noted in the scope of engagements in new transactions entered into by the company in Q2 2017 in a total of USD 2.9 billion.
