The US, UK Deploy Fighter Jets to Europe

Two F-35As, accompanied by about 20 supporting airmen, arrived at Ämari Air Base, Estonia, on Tuesday for familiarization training in the region, according to a US Air Forces in Europe statement.

On Monday,  the Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported that an undisclosed number of F-35As were heading to the Estonian air base and, after landing, would be in the country for “several weeks” to conduct training flights with aircraft from the US and allied militaries.

IAI to Bid for Radars Tender in South Korea

South Korea said Tuesday it has decided to purchase two advanced early warning radars on incoming ballistic missiles as North Korea's threats have grown.

The plan was approved at a regular meeting on arms procurement projects presided over by Defense Minister Han Min-koo, according to the Defense Acquisition Program Agency (DAPA). It plans to import the radars in the project starting within this year.

The Israeli Aeronautics Company demonstrates their Orbiter 3 small tactical UAS to representatives from the different branches and units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Customs, and NICA (the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency).

Trump Appointed New Secret Service Director

President Trump has selected Randolph "Tex" Alles, a retired Marine Corps general and acting deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, to lead the Secret Service, the White House announced on Tuesday.

Alles, a retired Marine two-star general, currently serves as acting deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection. He joined CBP in 2012, after retiring from the Marine Corps after 35 years of military service. Mr. Alles is the first Secret Service director in at least a century not to have served in the agency’s ranks.

China Launches First Homegrown Aircraft Carrier

China launched its second aircraft carrier, the first domestically-built one, Wednesday morning in northeast China's Dalian shipyard in Liaoning Province.

Chinese state news agency Xinhua said work had started on China's latest aircraft carrier in 2013. The carrier weighs 70,000 tons, it is 315 meters long and 75 meters wide and can reach a speed of 31 knots.

The US Moves THAAD Anti-Missile to South Korean Site

The US military started moving parts of its THAAD anti-missile defense system to a deployment site in South Korea on Wednesday amid high tensions over North Korea's missile and nuclear programs.

The United States and South Korea last year agreed to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to counter the threat of missile launches by North Korea. However, the move has angered China, which says the advanced system will do little to deter the North while destabilizing the regional security balance.
