US Army Chief of Staff Provides IDF Chief of Staff with Recommended Operation Plan in Rafah

The United States presented Israel with an operational plan for Rafah: General Charles Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, conveyed to IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, the American proposal.

The plan is based on the premise that the United States will not agree to mass casualties in Rafah as there were in the northern and central parts of the Gaza Strip. Israel’s Kan News reported that the American plan advocates for the closure of the border between Gaza and Egypt using advanced technological means, such as cameras and sensors, to prevent weapon smuggling through the Philadelphi Corridor.

The isolation of the city of Rafah and the initiation of a series of targeted military incursions are based on intelligence information. The establishment of a joint unified command center would be necessary to coordinate operations in Rafah.

According to the report, the details of the American plan for Rafah were conveyed to Defense Minister Yoav Galant in Washington last week. The US expressed disappointment that Israel did not prepare detailed plans for the day after the war in Gaza.
