Cyber attacks on ports are becoming an increasingly real threat, as many ports worldwide have been targeted in the past year alone. The world has begun to recognize and act on cyber defense in port infrastructure. Cyber security centers have been established in ports around the world to enhance readiness and recovery capabilities.

On Sunday, an LOI to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity and promote joint projects at the national and international levels was signed between the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and the Ashdod Port. Within the framework of this agreement, options for opening a cybersecurity school, technological scouting, cybersecurity solutions for the cruise industry, and more will be explored.

According to Gabi Portnov, head of the INCD, “Threats in the maritime domain are also increasing in the cyber field. An innovation center in Ashdod will promote innovative developments that will offer solutions in the world of shipping and the connection between the sea and the port, in order to stay one step ahead of attackers and maintain the crucial operational continuity in these days of warfare."

"I commend the enhancement of cooperation between the Port of Ashdod and such an important entity as the National Cyber Array,” said Shaul Schneider, acting CEO of the Ashdod Port Authority. “We are facing an increasingly challenging period in the field, and I am confident that the investment in cybersecurity, which is part of the port's growth engine, will bring a new line, both to the Israeli ecosystem and on the international level."

The Innovation Department of the Port of Ashdod excels in the field of cybersecurity for ports and showcases proven solutions from leading startups in the field. Additionally, the port's technological incubator promotes numerous international projects.
