US Reportedly Deploying National Guard Troops to Syria and Iraq

1,500 New Jersey Army National Guard soldiers will be part of the war effort against ISIS

The US is sending reinforcements of National Guard soldiers to the Middle East to fight ISIS. CBSNEWS reports that 1,500 New Jersey Army National Guard soldiers are about to go to Syria and Iraq as part of the war effort against ISIS called Operation Inherent Resolve.

The 1,500 soldiers from the 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will first undergo a training period at the Fort Bliss base in Texas before being stationed in the Middle East for 10 months.

It is important to note that the commander of the New Jersey Army National Guard, Brigadier General Lisa Hou, is the first Asian American and the first woman to lead the New Jersey Army National Guard.
