Iran unveiled its new warship this week, the Deylaman, the latest and allegedly most advanced in a family of five destroyers, built domestically as part of a naval project. According to the IRNA news agency, the warship joined the Iranian northern fleet in the port of Anzali on Monday, boosting Tehran’s presence in the Caspian Sea.

Citing Iranian officials, IRNA claims that the Deylaman represents a significant advancement in naval technology and boasts “superior technical and combat capabilities” that include domestically manufactured defense systems and equipment.

One such feature is the warship’s radar, which, according to the report, has the capability “to detect and track surface and aerial targets, including aircraft, drones, helicopters, surface vessels, and surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles,” and also has electronic counter-countermeasures capabilities, including random pulse transmitter emissions, signal analysis, and more.

Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, boasted during the unveiling ceremony that “This destroyer is one of the most advanced destroyers of the navy, and it does not lack anything from the world’s leading destroyers.”
