According to the DefenseNews ranking of the top 100 defense companies worldwide, the leading companies are, unsurprisingly, American ones. Lockheed Martin holds the number one position with sales revenue totaling around $63 billion. Approximately 96% of this revenue comes from defense product sales.

In second place is Raytheon (RTX), followed by Northrop Grumman. Surprisingly, in fourth place is the Aviation Industry Cooperation of China. In fifth place is Boeing. Further down the list, we can find General Dynamics and BAE. In seventh place is China North Industries Group Corporation Limited, and rounding out the top ten is L3Harris Technologies.

And what about Israeli companies?

Elbit Systems is placed in the 21st place, with a sales revenue of nearly $5 billion, about 90% of which comes from defense product sales. In 29th place is Israel Aerospace Industries, with a sales revenue of $4.1 billion – approximately 83% of which is from defense products. Rafael is in 34th place, with an approximate $3.5 sales revenue, all of which is from defense products.

It is worth noting that Elbit's sales revenue is comparable to major European giants like Rheinmetall AG and Dassault Aviation.

Elbit's CEO, Bezalel Machlis, recently set an ambitious sales target of $6-7 billion per year. As a comparison, the sales of the American contractor Booz Allen Hamilton amount to $5.9 billion.

Another interesting point to note about Israeli defense companies is that almost all of them approach a balance point between sales and delivery. This means that sales teams prioritize delivery. The implication is that the pace of product delivery is currently a factor that "hinders" the sales growth of the three Israeli security giants.
