The Norwegian army is about to be equipped with 54 Leopard 2 Main Battle Tanks equipped with the Israeli active defense system "Trophy" manufactured by Israel’s Rafael. The tanks purchased by the Norwegian Defense Material Agency (NDMA) from the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) will be called Leopard 2 A8 NOR.

The Trophy APS Passive Protection System is provided by EuroTrophy, a joint venture formed by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), KMW, and Rafael, which developed the Trophy APS system.

According to the KMW announcement, the tanks have additional features compared to the German A8 version, such as the integrated Norwegian ICS/CORTEX system from the Norwegian company Kongsberg. This system reconfigures data transfer in the MBT and communication with other combat systems.
