The Spanish Ministry of Defense is expected to award a contract soon for  replacing its SH-60B helicopters (Sikorsky) with new NH90 Sea Lion helicopters, manufactured by Airbus. The contract is supposed to be implemented during 2023.

The NH90 has gotten some bad PR due Sweden and Norway cancelling purchase deals. Airbus offers the helicopter equipped with a low-frequency submarine detection immersion sonar, manufactured by Thales, and armament options such as MK-46 and MK-54 Torpedos, as well as the Spike missile, manufactured by Israel’s Rafael, marketed in Europe under the name “Eurospike”.
