Syrian sources report that Israeli warplanes hit a series of targets near the province of Tartous in western Syria, and conducted a simultaneous strike on the outskirts of Damascus. Russia’s main bases in Syria are located in the port of Tartous, on the Mediterranean.

Reuters quotes an anonymous Syrian army officer that Israel targeted an Iranian base near the village of Abu Asfa south of Tartous, as well as an air defense and radar station nearby. Other sources said that the outposts that were hit near Damascus are run by Iran’s proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah. Three military personnel were reportedly killed in the attacks.

Last week, the Syrian military reported that the IDF destroyed a Hezbollah outpost near Kuneitra via artillery fire.

At the time of writing, Israel has made no reference to the attack, neither confirming nor denying.
