Lockheed Martin has manufactured its 850th Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) for the F-35 stealth fighter. This unique system for the fifth-generation stealth fighter provides the pilot with precision air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting functions.
Lockheed Martin said that the system combines a number of capabilities, such as infrared search and track capability, intelligence collection, and precision delivery of laser and GPS-guided weapons, all while maintaining the aircraft’s stealth and providing the pilot with a high level of situational awareness.
The new systems are installed in production lot 13 of the F-35. While manufacturing 850 of the systems, the EOTS team has reduced the number of defects as well as improved cost savings.
