In Israeli prison break, security prisoners escape from Gilboa prison via tunnel  

Six prisoners escaped from Gilboa prison in the north via a tunnel that they dug for months

Six prisoners escaped from Gilboa prison in northern Israel on Monday via a tunnel that they dug for months.  

The Israel Police said that after it received a report from the Israel Prison Service (IPS) on the escape of six security prisoners from Gilboa prison, large forces from the police together with border policemen and IDF troops launched a manhunt in cooperation with the Israel Security Agency. Security officers in the towns of the area were updated on the escape, and roadblocks were erected.  

A combined command center was set up at the location, and police were deployed in the towns of the area. Elite police units, canine units and airborne assets of the police are taking part in the manhunt and in ensuring the security of local residents.
