The Greek defense minister, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, visited the booth of Elbit Systems at the DEFEA 2021 exhibition that was held in Greece during the last few days. At the event, Israeli companies displayed a variety of products for Balkan and other European countries. The main catalyst for the arms acquisitions in the region is Putin, who has raised tensions with NATO in recent years, mainly after the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula.

In Elbit's case, it has a special connection with Greece. In April, the company was awarded a project to set up and operate a flight school for the Greek military.
