The border unit of the Israel Police's Northern District, in cooperation with IDF forces, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 43 weapons, worth about 2.7 million shekels, into Israel from the Lebanese border, which was the largest smuggling attempt on the border in recent years. The border unit of the police's Northern District, in cooperation with IDF observation posts, identified the attempted smuggling from Lebanese territory into Israeli territory.

The IDF is examining, among other things, whether the attempted smuggling was carried out with the assistance of the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Investigators from the main unit of the police's Northern District are investigating those who are behind the smuggling of the weapons in Israel.

Policemen from the unit are operating on all of the borders of the Northern District every day of the year, in all weather conditions, to prevent and thwart the smuggling of dangerous weapons and drugs into Israel. The operations of the policemen on the border prevent large quantities of dangerous weapons and drugs from reaching population centers in the country's territory and from being used by criminal and terrorist elements for terrorist attacks, violence and illegal trade.
