The IDF and the Israel Security Agency, via an airstrike by fighter planes, assassinated Hassam Abu-Harbid, the commander of the northern Gaza brigade of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Abu-Harbid, a commander in the organization for more than 15 years, was responsible for a number of antitank missile attacks, including the attack on the first day of the operation in which a citizen was lightly wounded.
In addition, Abu-Harbid was behind both the launching of rockets at Israel in the rounds of fighting as well as shooting attacks on IDF forces.
