Sometime between 2018 and 2019, according to reports, iPhone giant Apple acquired and closed Camerai, an Israeli augmented reality company that operated outside of Israel. In the past the company was called Tipit. The news was reported by Israel's Calcalist newspaper.
Jonathan (Yehonatan) Rimon, who was Camerai’s CEO and co-founded the company with Moty Kosharovsky, Erez Tal and Aaron Wetzler, declined a request by the TechCrunch website to comment on the report. "A separate source confirmed the story to us. We’ll update as we learn more," the TechCrunch report said.
