Netline Wins Spanish Military's Tender for Frequency Jammers

The Spanish military has chosen the Netline Company of Israel as its supplier of frequency jammers for dealing with roadside IEDs. The tender is estimated at tens of millions of Euro and should be fulfilled until 2023. For Netline, this could provide a foothold in the European defense market, which is expected to awaken in the coming years

Netline Communication Technologies has won the tender of the Spanish Ministry of Defense for the supply of frequency jammers for neutralizing the activation/ of roadside IEDs on the order of € 65,470,725, Infodefensa reported. The tender itself consists of two parts: an open public part, and a part consisting of classified elements. The tender should be fulfilled by 2023.

Tender implementation will consist of two stages. The first stage will include the installation and testing of jammers on twelve vehicle types. Once the Spanish authorities have expressed their satisfaction with the equipment, the Spanish military will order hundreds of units, as required, for their ground and naval forces. The equipment by Netline jams the communication between the receiver attached to the explosive charge and the remote control unit used to initiate the blast, thereby preventing the activation of the IED.

The testing process by the Spanish authorities started in 2018 and the tender in question is one of the most substantial tenders by a client outside of the USA in recent years. It should be noted that during the US military involvement in Iraq, the US military acquired more than a thousand systems by Netline. Later on, in Afghanistan, the US industry developed its own dedicated equipment and today, the USA almost totally avoids purchasing equipment of this category from external suppliers.

For Netline Communication Technologies, winning the Spanish military's tender can provide a foothold in Europe, and future tenders in the same field of activity, albeit on a smaller scale, have already been mentioned.
