Reports: India Used SPYDER System to Shoot Down Pakistani Drone

The shoot-down comes amid a major escalation of tensions between the two countries. The incident marks the first interception of an unmanned vehicle by the Rafael-made air defense system

The Indian Army on Tuesday shot down a Pakistani drone using a Derby missile fired from of the Rafael-made SPYDER air defense system.

The shoot-down comes amid a major escalation of tensions between the two countries. Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian Air Force crossed the Line of Control (LOC) and carried out airstrikes against militants in three locations within Pakistani territory: Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Chakothi.

The Indian Air Force used Israel-made systems during the strikes, including IAI Heron UAVs and Rafael Litening pods fitted onto Mirage-2000 jets.

Rafael did not comment on the reports.
