"The Palestinian arena over the past year has been very unstable. Both in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria, especially after Trump’s declaration, and the coming days will show that," the head of the Israel Security Agency Nadav Argaman told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

The ISA Chief told the committee members that during the past year the Agency prevented 400 significant attacks. "The calm is misleading; there's stirring on the ground, and Hamas is relentlessly trying to carry out attacks in Judea and Samaria and undermine the stability of the Palestinian Authority," Argaman said.

Argaman emphasized that "the number of attacks over the past year has dropped, but the amount of attacks thwarted has increased. We thwarted 400 significant attacks, 13 of which were suicide bombings, eight kidnappings and 94 'martyrdom' attacks."

The security organization foiled 1,100 potential "lone wolf" attacks, Argaman added. "54 individual attacks were successful in 2017, compared with 108 attacks of the same type that were carried out last year."

Argaman also praised the work carried out by the Agency's cyber unit and expressed his confidence in the abilities of the Israeli security services to withstand the coming times.
