Greek defense media has been reporting in recent days that Greece is interested in upgrading its fleet of M113 APCs through Israeli defense companies. According to the Greek website Defense Point, Greece has applied to the International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBT) in the Israeli Ministry of Defense with a request to take part in an APC upgrade program, the number of which ranges from 400 to 600 vehicles.
According to the Greek report, SIBAT forwarded the request to Israeli defense industry companies, including Elbit Systems, Rafael, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). What is extremely interesting is that SIBAT informs Israeli companies that they should send the information to the Greek side by January 22, 2024. The website specifically says that the letter is only sent to SIBAT but not to Greek or European companies.
