Elbit Systems of America is establishing a new, 135,000-square-foot facility in Charleston, South Carolina. According to the company announcement, the facility will house the company’s Ground Combat Vehicle Assembly and Integration Center of Excellence, and operations are expected to begin by the third quarter of 2022. The company expects that the new facility will bring 300 new jobs and a $380 million economic impact.

In support of contracts awarded to Elbit America by the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the supply of automatic self-propelled howitzer gun systems to the Israeli Defense Forces, the company identified 280 suppliers across South Carolina to provide materials and services to this effort. The company also plans to base the assembly and integration efforts of other future programs for both the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security at the facility

Elbit America currently operates multiple facilities in seven states with more than 3,300 employees, including 700 engineers, and invest in internally funded research and development, organic engineering, and manufacturing capabilities.
