Warning for Israel Airports Authority: airports in Iraq under drone attack

Ever since April, terrorist organizations have been attacking airports in Iraq where American troops are based. It is possible that this method of operations will be used in the future against airports in Israel in an attempt to damage the country's tourism sector

During the last few days, an attack drone was launched against Erbil airport in northern Iraq. The attack was aimed at the U.S. base on the airport grounds, Reuters quoted Kurdish security sources as saying. Flights from the airport were suspended following the attack.

In a statement, the Pentagon said that it was aware of reports about a drone attack, but initial information did not indicate structural damage, or injuries or casualties. A different spokesman for the U.S. Army, in an initial report, said one UAS "impacted" in the vicinity of Erbil but there were no casualties or damage. The attack came a day after rockets and a drone were launched toward Ain-al-Asad air base, where U.S. forces are based, and the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.

In April, a drone dropped an explosive device near U.S. troops based at the airport in Erbil. It was the first known attack carried out by a drone against U.S. forces in Erbil. Washington accuses the militias supported by Iran of carrying out the continuous rocket attacks on bases hosting American forces and on the embassy in Baghdad.
