Italian military vehicle manufacturer Iveco Defence announced Wednesday that it has supplied the Brazilian Army with 32 LMV-BR vehicles, the first batch under a contract signed in 2019. The rest of the vehicles, 31 in total, will be delivered in 2022 as part of the Army's modernization process, Iveco said.

According to the company, in addition to the LMV's standard features, all of the vehicles are fitted with customized weapon and command and control systems, as required by the customer. The LMV-BR was chosen in 2015 by the Brazilian Army as its new Multitasking Lightweight Armored Car. The project foresees the acquisition of 186 units, and Iveco Defence expects to start production of the next vehicles in 2022.

The company is already supplying the Brazilian Army with the Guarani VBTP 6x6 amphibious armored family of vehicles. More than 480 units have been delivered since 2012, following the signing of the production contract in 2009.
