Elbit Delivers First Five Upgraded APCs to Philippine Army

The Philippine Army took delivery of five armored personnel carriers upgraded by Elbit Systems and equipped with remote controlled weapon stations, according to a report by Max Defense.

As part of a contract signed between the parties in 2017, Elbit will upgrade 44 M113A2 APCs belonging to the Mechanized Infantry Division by equipping them with Dragon Overhead Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (ORCWS) fitted with 12.7mm heavy machine guns, and converting five M113A2 vehicles to Armored Mortar Carriers.

The five upgraded APCs that were handed over to the Philippine Army are part of the first batch of 17 vehicles scheduled to be delivered by June 2019. Elbit Systems will supply the additional 27 units in two more batches, with all expected to be delivered before the end of 2019.
