Azerbaijan Buys LORA Weapon System from IAI
The long-range tactical ground-to-ground missile developed by IAI’s MALAM division has a range of up to 430 km
Azerbaijan recently took delivery of the IAI-made Long Range Artillery Weapon System, or LORA.
The system was displayed on Monday during an opening ceremony of a new military unit, participated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.
According to AzeriDefence, Azerbaijan has officially proved it has an operational missile capable of reaching targets at a distance of over 400 km.
The LORA consists of a long-range tactical ground-to-ground missile developed by IAI’s MALAM division. It has a range of up to 430 km and weighs approximately 1,600 kg. The high explosive warhead (weighing 570 kg) can be delivered with a circular error probable (CEP) of 10 m across the effective range.
The LORA is capable of engaging strategic targets deep in the enemy's territory from mobile or maritime platforms, using a shaped trajectory flight mode, according to company information.
