Philippines to Purchase Spike NLOS Missiles

The Philippine Navy’s first two anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters will be armed with Spike NLOS missiles, according to a report on update.ph.

The Spike NLOS ("non-line of sight") missile, manufactured by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, was originally designed to destroy tanks. The Philippine Navy will use the Spike NLOS as an anti-ship weapon due to its claimed range of 25 kilometers.

The AgustaWestland AW-159 “Wildcats” ASW helicopters are scheduled to be delivered by 2018.
