In response to antiaircraft fire against IDF aircraft from Syrian territory, IDF Apache helicopters attacked an antiaircraft position of the Syrian Army on Friday. Following the incidents, the airspace on the northern border, a number of kilometers from the Lebanese border, was closed to civilian flights. The IDF also said that besides the reinforcement of forces and intensification of continuous activity in the area, a number of changes were made to the deployment of forces along the Lebanese border as well as additional actions in support of the operational efforts.

Regarding the attack in Syria, the IDF issued the following statement: "IDF attack helicopters struck targets of the Syrian Army in southern Syria in response to the fire carried out earlier toward the Golan Heights. A number of targets including observation posts and means of intelligence collection in Syrian positions were struck in the attack," the statement said. "The IDF sees the Syrian regime as responsible for the fire today, and will continue to act with determination and retaliate forcefully for every violation of the sovereignty of the State of Israel."
