Elbit: New Self-Protection and Jamming System for UAS

The Light SPEAR system improves the UAS’ survivability and enables the collection of accurate intelligence in highly hostile environments

Elbit Systems announced today (Monday) the launching of Light SPEAR, a new self-protection and jamming system for UAS.

Light SPEAR is composed of air defense systems and is based on Elisra's (Elbit Systems EW and SIGINT) operational experience in the development of unified digital EW suites, installed onboard platforms such as fighter jets, helicopters and utility aircraft, already in operational use by the Israeli Air Force and other customers worldwide.

An Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) system for UAS, Light SPEAR is a compact EW system based on multiple DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory (jamming channels, working in parallel and covering a wide spectrum. The system enables easy integration with an array of transmitters and platforms, and its low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) consumption makes it suited for UAS platforms operating in hostile environments.
