Philippine defense media reported that last week, the Philippine Navy conducted live fire testing of its new Spike NLOS short-range anti-ship missile.

The Philippine website MaxDefense reports that the testing is part of a contract worth about $128 million to supply 8 Shaldag Mk. 5 fast attack crafts (FAC) manufactured by Israel Shipyards and to provide Typhoon and Mini Typhoon RCWS for all FACs, along with Typhoon-MLS NLOS and Spike NLOS missiles for 4 of the FACs manufactured by Rafael Systems, valued at approximately $80 million.

The website notes that the Spike NLOS missile has a reported effective range of 30 kilometers, which surpasses the range of the Spike ER missiles aboard the smaller MPAC Mk. III assault crafts operated by the Philippine Navy's Littoral Combat Force.
