Amir Peretz, Chairman of the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI); Israel’s Former Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Minister of Environmental Protection, and Minister of Economy and Industry, spoke on the joint stage of Cybertech Global Tel Aviv and Sparks Innovation Summit this morning (Wednesday) the state of Israel post October 7th.

“These are tough times for all of us. For the past six months, I’ve been asking myself whether we have the right to divert our attention from the war, carry on, and do normal things when the war is still waging and the hostages have still not returned home.

“Even the greatest minds can’t invent the time machine that will send us back to October 6th, and from now on – it’s our job, the job of each and every one of us, to join forces as parts of a whole. We’re each a part of the beautiful puzzle of the State of Israel.”

“All the people I have met – young soldiers, business companies that stepped in, elderly people who chose to volunteer, artists who came to perform pro-bono – so many beautiful initiatives – we are at our finest when we are together.”

“How will we return to being the Startup Nation the entire world looks up to? To me, the answer is clear. The southern communities need substantial investments that will rebuild them and create a new ecosystem. This is what we have been doing at IAI – building new factories in the south, joining as business partners, investing in technological companies. I call on all of you – come to the south!”

Peretz concluded by saying that Israel’s victory will only come when the hostages return to their homes. ‘Then, we can truly start rebuilding, when each child once again knows that there is a state behind them that will be there to defend and protect them.”

Eytan Eshel the CTO of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), also spoke this morning about IAI’s constant strive for more and more innovation. He explained about the IAI Innovation Center, built for entrepreneurs and innovators to bring their ideas.

“The goals of the Innovation Center are to be a home for emerging technologies, boosting ideas to MVPs, reducing time to market,  high-end technology, connecting tech, entrepreneurs, and market fit toward value,” Eshel said.

Eshel also touched upon the 13-week process that entrepreneurs and innovators undergo at the IAI Innovation Day, leading from idea up to the demo day. “Over the past four years, the lab has had 65 projects with 57% success, 26 collaborating startups, and 11 registered patents,” he said.

During the Swords of Iron War, IAI has greatly collaborated with the IDF and has been investing significant funds in Israel’s southern area’s technological capabilities and initiatives.
