Turkey: Successful Test Launch of Cakir Cruise Missile from Akinci Drone

A successful first test launch of a Cakir cruise missile from an Akinci UAV was recently conducted in Turkey.

According to the Defense Blog, the Cakircruise missile, manufactured by Roketsan, is one of the most advanced in the Turkish arsenal. It is designed to target both land and sea targets, equipped with a surface-skimming system. It can fly over various types of terrain and water.

The missile weighs 275 kg, with a warhead of 70 kg and a range of 150 km. Its speed ranges between 0.75 to 0.85 Mach and it can carry a variety of munitions, including penetration warhead.

The Akinci UAV, locally produced by Baykar, is among the newest and most advanced in the Turkish industry. It is capable of carrying externally mounted two Cakir cruise missiles and now also capable of launching the cruise missile itself.
