Syria's state-run media reported on April 20 that Israel carried out a late-night attack in Homs Province in the central part of the country.

The SANA news agency claimed air defenses "confronted an Israeli missile aggression" and "shot down a number of the hostile missiles before reaching their targets." Syrian media is said to overstate the success of the defenses against such attacks. There was no immediate comment from the IDF.

There were conflicting reports as to the exact location of the strike. Some said the target was T4 airport near the city of Palmyra, while others said Syrian Army positions in the area of the city were struck, and the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the targets were "military posts for Iranian militias in the Palmyra desert."

According to Reuters, quoting Western intelligence sources, Iranian-backed militias are dug in on the outskirts of the city.

Last week, reports said an Israeli drone carried out a strike against a car on the Lebanese border carrying members of Hizbollah.
