Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hamas on Sunday, saying that if the attacks from Gaza against Israel won't stop, Israel will launch a “different” kind of response.

“Hamas, apparently, has not internalized the message,” Netanyahu said during Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting. “If they do not stop the violent attacks against us, they will be stopped in a different way and it will be painful – very painful.

The prime minister added that Israel is “very close to a different kind of activity, an activity that will include very powerful blows. If it has sense, Hamas will stop firing and stop these violent disturbances – now.”

The warning comes after an especially violent weekend in which more than 20,000 Palestinians took part in the weekly "March of Return" riots and multiple attempts to breach the Gaza fence were prevented by IDF forces.

Three Palestinians were killed in one incident after several Gazans breached the security fence in the southern Strip, and set off a bomb which set a section of the fence on fire. Immediately afterward, a group of 20 Palestinians was seen crossing the fence and approaching an IDF sniper position, leading troops to open fire and kill the three men. The others returned to the Strip.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh vowed Saturday that mass rallies would continue until the “siege on Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa and all the lands of Palestine is lifted.”

Also on Saturday, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman halted all fuel deliveries into the Gaza Strip in response to the violence. “Until violence in the Gaza Strip stops entirely, including the launching of incendiary balloons and the burning of tires near Israeli communities, the supply of fuel and gas to the Gaza Strip will not be renewed,” Lieberman said.
