The United States is introducing advanced anti-tanks Javelin missiles to Eastern Europe, near the Russian border. In recent months, it has been reported that shipments of these missiles will reach Ukraine. On Monday, Georgia has unveiled the first its newly delivered Javelin missile systems, according to a Defence Blog report.

The introduction of such missiles is aimed at deterring Russian tanks on the one hand, and on the other hand to allow the US to better cope with the hybrid war that Russia is waging along European borders.

"On April 30, 2018, within the framework of the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the creation of the Georgian armed forces, an exhibition of arms and military equipment was held in the territory of the military camp of the 4th mechanized brigade of the Georgian army in Vaziani," the report reads.

The Javelin was showcased for the first time in the exhibition, which was attended by members of the Georgian leadership headed by Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili.

According to the report, Georgia has purchased 410 Javelin missiles and 72 Javelin Command Launch Units.
