Israel's Global Data Center is doubling its Herzliya data center facility from 2,250 square meters to 4,500 square meters. The company announced that it would invest tens of millions of Shekels to complete the expansion in the first half of 2018. Global Data Center operates a secured underground data center facility in Herzliya, built in compliance with the latest global standards. The tier-3 site provides hosting services for IT operations units, full business continuity and disaster recovery, as well as on-site and remote back-up, cloud computing services, on-demand control and operating services, and smart hands services.
Global Data Center's expanded facility will conform to all the current standards, services, and levels of service provided by the facility's original area. Doubling the data center's area joins other measures that the company has taken in the past year, such as tripling the data center's business continuity space, allowing the company's clients to quickly move to work at the Herzliya facility in an emergency.
The company's data center in Herzliya serves public and private companies in a range of industries, specializing in solutions for insurance, financial, and high-tech companies that operate in Israel. Companies using the services of Global Data Center's facility include institutional organizations such as Harel Insurance Investments and Financial Services Ltd., Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd., IBI Investment House Ltd., alongside industrial firms such as Israel Chemicals Ltd., and IT companies such as FMR Computers & Software. Global Data Center also hosts at its facility some of Israel's leading high-tech companies such as ECI Telecom Ltd., Infinidat Ltd., Varonis Systems Inc., Zerto Ltd. and SolarEdge Technologies Inc.
"The current data center has almost used up its potential space," said Moshe Lasman, founder and CEO of Global Data Center. "The rapid growth rate of information has created a need for physical spaces in Israel to host IT infrastructures for companies with a critical mass of data. Some of these companies have already reserved space in the new part of the facility, which will open in a few months."
"We are seeing a trend of IT managers preferring to rent an external site and benefit from scalability, improved cash flow by converting a capital expense into an operating expense, and high data accessibility, together with physical and digital security, energy savings, comprehensive business disaster recovery and other advantages. It is no coincidence that according to Cisco Systems' 2017 Global Cloud Index, total global data center traffic is expected to reach 15.3 zettabytes in 2020. Furthermore, all cloud services need to host the hardware on which the data resides in a particular physical space. From this point, the path to data centers' success is short," Lasman concluded.
