US President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed into law a sweeping defense policy bill that authorizes a $700 billion budget for the military. However, the budget will not become a reality until lawmakers agree to roll back a 2011 law that set strict limits on federal spending, including by the Defense Department. According to the National Post, the law caps 2018 defense spending at $549 billion.

The approved budget includes additional support for Israel's missile defense programs. $92 million will be provided to Israel to procure Tamir interceptors for the Iron Dome anti-missile system. Additional $120 million will be allocated for the procurement of the David's Sling system. The Arrow-3 program will also receive $120 million. The co-production of all parts and components will be performed in the United States.

The US-Israel anti-tunnel cooperation program will receive $25 million per year for the next three years (2018 to 2020). The bill specifies that "not less than 50 percent of such amount shall be used for research, development, test, and evaluation activities in the United States in connection with such support."
