Iran to buy 950 Tons Yellowcake from Kazakhstan
Iran has reached an agreement with Kazakhstan to purchase 950 tons of yellowcake (natural uranium) over the next three years

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi announced Tehran is set on buying 950 tons yellowcake (urania) from Kazakhstan, reports the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA).
Iran has sent a request to the to the secretariat of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) – the commission that oversees the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the six world powers in 2015 – regarding the issue, Salehi said, according to Azernews.
"The deal is supposed to be implemented during three years. It expected that near the 650 tons of the yellow cake shipment will arrive in Tehran directly in two batches of shipment during two years. The remaining 300 tons of this shipment will arrive in Tehran over the third year and will be converted to UF6 (uranium hexafluoride) gas. It will be again delivered to Kazakhstan, and the cost will be paid to Iran,” Salehi said.
“The five members of the 5+1 group have announced their written consent to the joint commission, but the UK changed its mind at last minutes regarding US election. We are still waiting for the final and written view of London,” he added.
Iran and the P5+1 (the United States, France, Britain, Russia, Germany and China) started implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA aka nuclear deal) on Jan.16, 2016.
Iran has imported 359 tons of uranium from Russia and other countries over the last year following the implementation of the nuclear deal.
Under the nuclear deal, Iran can sell its enriched uranium material and buy natural uranium or yellowcake in return. The country recently received the final batch of a 149-ton yellowcake shipment from Russia.
