BIRD Aerosystems to Equip Head-of-State Aircraft with Advanced Missile Defense
Israeli defense company to supply SPREOS DIRCM system for Boeing 737 BBJ under EASA-certified upgrade, enhancing protection for national leaders in high-risk environments
BIRD Aerosystems, an Israeli provider of advanced defense technology and solutions, has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract by a new government customer for the supply and installation of its SPREOS DIRCM system — a countermeasure integrated within the µAeroShield pod. The system will be installed on a Boeing 737 BBJ Head of State aircraft within the next year and includes full certification and aircraft modification under a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
According to BIRD, the µAeroShield pod integrates the company’s AMPS advanced missile protection system and its patented SPREOS DIRCM into a compact, easily installed solution that complies with civil aviation regulations. BIRD’s AMPS provides a near-zero false alarm rate and optimized jamming capabilities, ensuring maximum protection for the head of state, crew, and aircraft against threats such as MANPADS and other surface-to-air missile systems.
Ronen Factor, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder of BIRD Aerosystems, stated:
“This important contract with a new customer reflects our continued growth in the VVIP and head-of-state aircraft protection segment. We are proud to deliver our state-of-the-art technology to ensure the safety of national leaders as they operate in increasingly complex and high-threat environments.”
