IWI Deepens Defense Ties with Peru Through New Rifle Contracts and Local Assembly
New plant in partnership with FAME begins production of 10,000 Arad rifles and Meprolight sights for Peruvian Armed Forces and Police
Israeli small arms manufacturer IWI is expanding its share of the Peruvian assault rifle market. IsraelDefense has learned that the company has secured additional contracts to supply Arad assault rifles to the Peruvian Army. The quantities and financial details of the deals have not been disclosed.
In line with this development, the company recently announced the launch of a new assembly plant in Peru, established in collaboration with FAME, a key Peruvian defense industry company affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.
The facility is already supplying Arad rifles to both the Peruvian Armed Forces and the National Police, starting with an initial order of 10,000 rifles. Plans are in place to significantly increase production over the coming years.
In addition to the rifles, the plant has also delivered thousands of Meprolight M21 reflex sights, with further shipments scheduled to support Peru’s ongoing security upgrades.
Tom Polak, Director of Marketing and Sales at the SK Group, expressed satisfaction with the strengthened collaboration with FAME and the group’s growing presence in Peru.
“This project not only contributes to strengthening the country's defense capabilities but also promotes job creation and fosters local economic growth. Looking ahead, we anticipate the continued expansion of this partnership. At IWI, our work goes beyond weapon manufacturing; we work closely with forces on the ground, developing solutions that emerge directly from the real challenges of the battlefield.”
