MER Group, an Israeli provider of intelligence and homeland security solutions, military systems, cyber solutions and advanced communications infrastructure, has received a $6 million order from an Indian defense company. The order covers the development, integration, supply and support of advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based counter-UAS systems for the company's customers, including the Indian Army.

According to the company, the order is part of a binding framework agreement for cooperation signed by one of the group's subsidiaries with the Indian company. The expected profit margin is in line with the company's customary profitability levels for similar military technology projects. Subsequent phases of the agreement may include technology transfer and local production in India, subject to the required approvals and the signing of detailed agreements.

Avi Shechter, CEO of MER Group, described the engagement as a significant milestone in expanding the company's global security activities and entering the Indian market, which he identified as a strategic target market with significant growth potential.

"The growing threat from unmanned aerial systems is increasing the need for advanced AI-based counter-UAS solutions, and this agreement demonstrates international recognition of the group's technological capabilities and its ability to integrate complex solutions," Shechter said. "The first $6 million order adds to our growing order backlog, and we look forward to deepening the collaboration and establishing local production in India as part of the next phases of the agreement and the Group's expansion into leading global defense markets."
