Skapion Raises $36M to Counter the Drone Swarm Threat
With a founding team drawn from Israel’s top defense programs, the company is targeting the next era of aerial threats

Israeli defense-tech company Skapion has raised $36 million in a Seed funding round to accelerate development of what it calls the world’s first native counter-swarm defense system — a mobile, end-to-end solution designed to address the growing threat of mass drone attacks.
The round was co-led by UP.Partners and Khosla Ventures, with participation from existing investors Fusion VC, Stratos Ventures, TBD VC and q Fund.
The investment comes as unmanned aerial systems have rapidly transformed modern warfare. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, low-cost drones and one-way attack UAVs have evolved from niche battlefield tools into a persistent challenge for militaries, critical infrastructure operators and air-defense networks.
While traditional air-defense systems have proven effective against individual threats, the rise of drone swarms has exposed a fundamental gap: defenders are often forced to deploy expensive interceptors against inexpensive, numerous platforms attacking simultaneously.
Skapion was founded to tackle this challenge by developing a system built specifically for high-volume drone warfare. The company’s mobile platform is designed to detect, engage and neutralize swarms of unmanned systems while operating in communication-constrained and complex environments.
“The question is no longer whether a single drone can be detected or hit,” said Ido Bar-On, Skapion’s co-founder and CEO. “The question is whether modern militaries can neutralize swarms at the speed, scale and cost required by today’s battlefield.”
Skapion’s founding team brings together decades of defense, engineering and operational experience. Brig. Gen. (Res.) Pini Yungman, the company’s founding architect, previously led Rafael’s Air and Missile Defense Systems division and was involved in major programs including Iron Dome and David’s Sling. Bar-On previously led XTEND’s defense and government business internationally and served as a reserve lieutenant colonel in an IDF special operations unit.
The new funding will support continued hiring, system development, validation and expansion of partnerships with defense organizations in Israel, the United States and allied markets.
