Yet, the central government’s readiness and support, especially outside major cities, remains abysmally low, as clearly demonstrated by the water and electricity crises this past winter. Strikingly, in a region that regularly suffers from seismic activity, there is no public information pointing to any adequate government readiness to handle an event of this scale.

In well-governed nations under similar conditions, the leadership dedicates careful thought and effort to "the day after." Earthquakes cannot be prevented, but proper preparations to mitigate and manage the resulting damage are entirely possible. It requires only government attention and the proper allocation of resources. However, the Iranian regime’s behavior to date highlights a blatant disregard for the welfare of the people it governs. To be fair, this lack of interest is not necessarily driven by sheer malice; government apathy toward earthquake preparedness is a widespread issue in too many countries, and one does not have to look far to see where else it is lacking.

To understand the profound implications of such negligence, let us examine a specific scenario: suppose a magnitude 7.0 or higher earthquake hits central Iran. At such an intensity, its effects would ripple far beyond the epicenter.

This is where external intervention could play a role by bringing the facts to the attention of the Iranian public. In fact, a concerted informational campaign of this nature would be worthwhile even in the wake of moderate earthquakes. Properly managed, such an effort could elevate the public's grievances to a critical tipping point.

Moreover, rumors would likely spread rapidly, claiming that the earthquake was not a natural occurrence.
