Elbit Systems has secured a contract worth approximately $350 million from an international customer to upgrade main battle tanks (MBTs), the company announced on Thursday.

The four-year program will include the integration of advanced fire control systems, electric gun and turret drive systems, communication and situational awareness solutions, as well as a broader mid-life upgrade package aimed at extending the tanks’ operational lifespan and improving combat readiness.

According to the company, the modernization effort will feature new electro-optical sights with artificial intelligence capabilities designed to support day and night operations, alongside enhanced target detection and tracking systems. The contract also includes spare parts supply, maintenance and technical support, and the integration of a secure high-capacity voice communication suite.

Elbit Systems said the upgrades are intended to improve the tanks’ effectiveness, survivability, and battlefield connectivity.

“Elbit Systems is a global leader in tank modernization programs,” said President and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, adding that the company’s integrated approach combines advanced fire control, electro-optical, and communication technologies to provide customers with enhanced operational capabilities.
