A new consortium led by Leonardo (UK), Mitsubishi Electric (Japan), Leonardo (Italy) and ELT Group (Italy) has been established to develop advanced electronics for the fighter jets of the GCAP program. According to a joint statement by the companies, the development will include sensing and communication systems.
The companies are partners in the project, aiming to integrate innovative technologies that will enable the aircraft to detect threats and operate efficiently. Leonardo, which is managing the initiative, will contribute its experience in radar and air defense systems. Mitsubishi Electric specializes in radar technologies in Japan.
The consortium is expected to operate from a joint development center, allowing for the sharing of knowledge and resources.
